We all know First Friday’s can be interesting at times. You see and meet people you normally don’t. Experience the eclectic to the talented savants of their art. Tonight we meet Alison Sweet. Described as a “cynical mutli-media artist and a fact-finding, research nerd.” This is her solo debut at the five15 arts called “An Illuminated look at movement and cultural gesture via 16mm film.”
I found out about her solo debut at the five15 arts through a flyer at work. What caught my eyes were the images on the flyer, they were rather risqué. See for yourself below. It looked interesting and it was First Fridays, so I decided to check it out. I never been to five15 arts.
From five15 arts website it’s described as, “a collective, artist-run, contemporary art space committed to providing support and an exhibition venue for serious, professionally minded Arizona artists. Five15 is a well-respected venue showing creative and original art and has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, locally and nationally.”
We did a Qik interview with Alison to talk about her work and inspiration. See above for the video and photos below. Yes, I know, the video is rotated clockwise! My mistake! We will see if we can get another interview with Alison to correct this.
After, we went to hit up the Hidden House for their event with DJ’s Kris the Fist, KGB, Robyn, Extra-E hosted by Ekhoe. Got to give a shout out to the Fresh Fiends, they were in the house! It was too packed to take much photos, see below:
