Art show, good beats and catered food, who wouldn’t enjoy a Saturday night like that?! This was only a precursor for the evening. I only found out about the Anti-Space gallery show yesterday from a text message from PHOTOHOE. Others found out about it through the ever famous Myspace…anyhoo the art show consisted of works by Bobby Castaneda, .:PHOTOHOE:. and Kristen lastname.
Bobby’s art were of paintings, pen and water color elements. One that stood out for me was the pen drawn Spiderman piece. I’m a big fan of comic art. Near the entrance of Anti-Space are the pieces of PHOTOHOE. His piece were photos. I was struck by the rawness of one of the photo. It was a nude female standing in a shower that reminded me of a scene from psycho or a horror movie. Interestingly there were a couple of photos that was printed on transparent paper, great concept. Kristen’s pieces were from paintings and sharpie drawings. Some of her pieces reminded me of the funny someecards (google it).
While there I happen to run into JAVA magazine. I like to say they are our inspiration. we’re are a complimentary to them. After a quick conversation, I was off to the Hidden House for some old school hip hop. Arriving I had a feeling it was going to be packed. It was! Saw some of my friends standing outside. I soon found out why they were outside instead of inside. It felt like the a/c wasn’t on, yuck! This time I also ran into Robyn, the birthday girl from my previous post. She gave me crap for not getting a photo for her birthday. We both laughed that at least I took a photo of her birthday cake! DJ Element and DJ Astonish were also playing this night. Element killed it. It was classic hits after classic hits.
