Behind the Scenes: Fleur’t Boutique’s 3rd annual Spring into Summer Fashion Show with hair by Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy was an eclectic mix of textured, cutting-edge vogue evocative of 80’s pop culture.
Coordinator Shannon Mason from Toni&Guy at Scottsdale Fashion Square executed the artistic direction of hair to parallel the fashion theme “everything old is new again”. The overall concept of retro transformed into modern structure, such as geometric, asymmetrical, and New Wave, was influenced by pop icon Lady Gaga. These bold looks were molded into shape by working with natural texture and progression of hair, as well as teasing and a haze of Aqua Net to create the volume of 80’s glam. Mason says that anything retro is hot right now, whether it be 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s.
Stylist Sarah Rawls from Toni & Guy at Fiesta Mall was inspired by the Tigi Remix Collection; old cuts redone to be updated and hip. Rawls says that the latest hair is either exceptionally voluminous or sleek and straight, no in between. She also has a firm belief in working with the natural texture of hair, “if your hair has a natural, funky wave – rock it!” Besides being chic, hair is not as much work and people can create the salon fresh look at home.
The hottest hair trends reflect the constant evolution of style. The new looks reflect a refreshed version of classic motifs, creating an extraordinary remix. The result? Modern hair extraordinaire!
