The Fleur’t, Fashion, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Designer Fashion Show at Barrett-Jackson

Sid Vicious himself would have been envious of how much the Fleur’t designer fashion show positively rocked. The show immediately engaged the crowd with the first model pouring gold glitter out of champagne bottles and large screens playing 80’s videos of political chaos, the punk era, and the repeated image of the anarchy symbol and God Save Fleur’t.

Director of Operations for Fleur’t Boutique, Anjuli Morse, got her inspiration for the show from listening to Brit and American pop/punk rock such as The Clash, The Ramones, and The Sex Pistols. She anticipated doing something very different from last year’s goth, burlesque theatrical show and was driven by a more raw, edgy, grimy and dirty motif. Short shorts, bomber jackets, plaids, legwarmers, fishnets, liquid shimmer leggings, distressed denim, booties, scarves, cardigans, vests, rolled jeans, and several rhinestone embellished denim and leather jackets all played a part in the British bash. The catwalk was exceptionally playful with guitars strapped on the models, rhinestone beer cans thrown into the audience, hot pink tape over the chest of a model, and a surprise make-out session.

La Lou Salon provided all of the hair and make-up. Owner Lindsey Smith modernized the retro pop looks with teased out, tossled, spiked, and shag hairstyles combined with black eyes. Smith says that everyone will be growing out their bangs this year into whimsical, soft, long layered hair and make-up will be very bright with pinks and corals. Morse forecasts this season’s fashion trends to be dip dyes, edgy-bohemian, leather and ruffles.

Fleur’t is an upscale boutique in Scottsdale that carries approximately 300 lines of designer clothing, from couture to denim, with designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, Philip Lim, John Varvatos, Rock and Republic, Ilaria Nistri, and Jaded by Knight.
